What is Claustar?
Claustar is an AI-powered contract drafting platform built for founders, freelancers,
and small business operators who can't justify $3,000 in legal fees every time they need a contract. You
describe your situation, we ask the right questions, and you walk away with a structured, ready-to-review
draft in minutes. Not a generic template. Not a chatbot. Something actually built for your deal.
Do I need legal knowledge to use it?
No. You describe what you're trying to do in plain English. Claustar interviews
you, explains what each clause actually means, and flags anything you should pay attention to. You make
every decision. We just guide you so you don't miss anything important.
Will my contracts hold up?
Here's how we think about it: we start from attorney-reviewed templates, then build
your contract clause by clause based on your specific situation. You're not getting a blank form with your
name swapped in. You're getting a structured draft that reflects your deal. For most everyday contracts,
that gets you 90% of the way there before you've spent a dollar on legal fees. For high-stakes agreements,
you can export a clean draft and take it to an attorney for a fraction of what a full build would cost them.
What documents can I create right now?
Employment agreements, contractor agreements, NDAs, IP assignment agreements (PIIAs),
offer letters, and client service contracts. We continue to add more documents as we grow.
How is this different from ChatGPT, LegalZoom, or other AI tools?
LegalZoom gives you a static template. ChatGPT gives you text it generated on the spot
with no guardrails. Claustar interviews you, builds your contract clause by clause, explains what each
section actually protects you from, and surfaces gaps before you sign anything. The templates we build from
were reviewed by attorneys. The AI doesn't guess; it works from a structured foundation and adapts it to
your situation. Think of it as what you'd get if ChatGPT and LegalZoom built something together with an
actual attorney in the room.
Do I need a lawyer?
That's your call. Our templates were built and reviewed by licensed attorneys. For a
straightforward NDA, contractor agreement, or service contract, most operators don't need additional review.
For anything with significant financial exposure, complex IP, or unusual terms, bringing in an attorney to
review your draft is a smart move. The difference is you're arriving with a clean, detailed draft instead of
starting from scratch. That alone cuts their billable time significantly.
Is my data safe?
Your contracts are yours. We never train our AI models on your documents, and your
data is never used to improve outputs for other users. We use enterprise-grade infrastructure with
end-to-end encryption. Once you generate and export a contract, we don't retain or share your proprietary
information. Full privacy policy available before you create an account.
When does it launch?
April 2026. Waitlist members get first access and early-bird pricing.
Can I use it outside the US?
Yes. We support multiple jurisdictions at launch and are expanding coverage
continuously.
